IN THE NEW TAN-YARD  Nieuwe Looiersstraat 40 Amsterdam This 17th century tablet reminds us of the tannery that was here a long time ago. The family arms of the owner is flanked on either side by a tanner and is also provided with a beaming sun in the centre. The horns on the hide prove its genuineness. The man on the right is scraping the fat of the hide that is spread over the trunk of a tree.
