REPLICA
Oosterdok
Amsterdam
This is the stem
of the
replica of the Amsterdam,
a ship of the Dutch East-Indian Company.
She was shipwrecked in the 18th century
in the roads of Hastings.
On the left we see Mercure
the god of merchants(and thieves).
On the right Neptune the god of the seas.
The man who posed for this sculpture
is Cees van de Meer,
who was in charge of the building
of this beautiful ship.
